L'Ami Louis

Paris, France

One of the most authentic bistros in Paris – and one of the hardest to get a table at. This place divides opinion: AA Gill loathed it, the Beckhams and chef Simon Hopkinson love it. There are only 12 tables at L'Ami Louis, and they’re reserved for the great and the good of Parisian society. Judges, bankers, artists and actors gather here to gulp back Burgundy and devour the famous whole roast chicken, served by waiters in white coats. The chicken is more than $100, and plates of asparagus and snails cost upwards of $60, so bring wealthy friends and a sense of humour.
