Le Grand Mazarin
Paris, France
Family-owned hotel group Maisons Pariente is behind a series of characterful properties in France, located in hotspots including Provence, St Tropez and Courchevel. Le Grand Mazarin marks the group’s first urban address, and abides by its eye-catching design ethos. Located in the French capital’s Marais district, the hotel isn’t one for the minimalist-minded, but speaks to creative travellers with a penchant for dream-like design. Swedish designer Martin Brudnizki adds his eclectic style to the interiors – think ornate tapestry canopies, antique furnishings, patterned wallpapers and whimsical lamps. Luxury touches, meanwhile, span from Diptyque toiletries, to a dedicated butler service. The hotel’s Boubalé restaurant brings Middle Eastern mezze to the Marais, while DJ sets over dinner spill into the subterranean speakeasy Le Petit Bazar. And while the Marais is known for its cramped, maze-like layout, the hotel has gone underground for its spa – complete with a mosaiced pool beneath a fresco-adorned ceiling.
