Maison by Sota Atsumi

Paris, France

From the outside, Tokyo-born Sota Atsumi’s Parisian restaurant could be a transplant from the Japanese capital: its wide eaves, simple signage and minimalist aesthetic are straight from Tokyo’s signature lookbook. The theme continues inside. The former industrial space has been transformed into an intimate environment of warm wood and pink-hued tiling, accommodating up to 40 guests in front of an open kitchen. An eight-metre-long wooden table sits at its heart, emphasising Tokyo-born Atusumi’s ambition to make this an inviting home of good gastronomy. Simple set lunch and dinner menus (at impressively affordable prices) deliver modern French cuisine using tiptop, market-fresh ingredients. Expect slivers of red tuna with a delicate rhubarb jus, spears of green asparagus in stinging nettle and wild garlic sauce and classic Tatin beside caramel ice cream. Wines start from just £12 a glass.
