Regent Hong Kong

Hong Kong, China

In the 1980s and 90s, the Regent Hong Kong was the place to stay. Perched on Kowloon’s Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, it ruled the hotel scene – that is until other glittering five-stars started vying for attention. Now, like a phoenix from the ashes, the storied icon has re-emerged following a redesign by Hong Kong’s visionary creative Chi Wing Lo, reopening in grand style in late 2023. Some of the original architectural elements remain – the circular driveway, the feng shui fountain, the vintage swimming pool, the grand marble staircase – but much has been reimagined for a new audience. The 497 guest rooms and suites are a vision of calm, contemplative luxury – soft greys, blonde woods and gently undulating curves – with big bathtubs and window-front daybeds for watching the boats bob about in Victoria Harbour. It more than delivers on the dining front, from Japanese-Peruvian flavours at Nobu Hong Kong to Cantonese at Lai Ching Heen. With Hong Kong’s treasures on the doorstep, including the Avenue of Stars, Art Square, Hong Kong Museum of Art and the West Kowloon Cultural District, welcome back Regent Hong Kong.
