As its name suggests, The Opposites is built on the idea that contrast creates harmony. It follows, then, that the drinks list is split neatly between two sections – Balanced and Theatrical – with ABV levels listed for each drink. The signature tropical cocktail, Scoop Me Up, toys with expectation in both flavour and form, arriving in a cone-shaped glass beneath a bubble of gas. Seasonal specials keep things equally playful: the Floating Taro reimagines Irish coffee as a hojicha-and-amaro-spiked coupe topped with salted taro coconut cream. Arrive early – this bar is walk-in only and tends to fill up fast, thanks to its immersive atmosphere and confident flavours. With the transportive aura of a cinema, the room itself invites lingering, thanks to brass-topped marble tables, low lighting and deep booth seating. An East-meets-West food menu completes the picture, with bites spanning lobster mac and cheese laced with Sichuan pepper to curry cod croquettes.
