Discreetly tucked into a narrow alley amidst the hustle and bustle of Hollywood Road, Neighborhood is a small-plates bistro carrying dishes inspired by different regions of Europe. Under the direction of chef and restaurateur David Lai, the casual-feel of the establishment is offset by the techniques Lai has honed working abroad in the US, and back in his hometown of Hong Kong's Spoon by Alain Ducasse. Come prepared, for some large sharing plates such as a thornyhead rockfish paella and a salt-baked chicken need to be pre-ordered. The latter is a crowd favorite, as the entire salt-crusted chicken is first presented to the table before it is butchered and cooked again in a skillet. The cozy vibe of the dining area makes this haunt in central Hong Kong a favorite among Western chefs missing a taste of home.
