A slick makeover, complete with mid-century furniture in neutral tones and statement house plants, may have left this dining room looking very modern, but the hospitality is every inch as traditional as when the restaurant opened in 1962. Il Luogo di Aimo e Nadia (‘the place of Aimo and Nadia’) has held two Michelin stars since 1990, although these days the kitchen is in the capable hands of talented duo Alessandro Negrini and Fabio Pisani. Signature dishes such as semolina durum wheat served simply with spring onions and a touch of red chilli sit alongside the more daring 'territories' menu, which changes daily.
