Patina Osaka

Osaka, Japan

Patina Hotels & Resorts marked two milestones when it opened in Osaka in 2025, signalling its debut in Japan as well as its very first urban property. While the hotel occupies a 20-storey modern skyscraper, its earthy interiors hark back to the brand’s sanctuary-like roots, with wood elements, naturally aged copper, organic furnishings and water features. Design firm Strickland resonated with the Japanese concept of kisetsukan – an appreciation for seasonal changes – when developing the hotel’s look and feel. Floor-to-ceiling windows, therefore, overlook Osaka Castle and Naniwanomiya Park, giving guests the chance to appreciate spring’s famous sakura as well as the city’s fiery autumn scenes. Patina’s appreciation for nature also extends to its five dining outlets, particularly at restaurant P72 which shapes its menu around Japan’s 72 micro-seasons. The brand’s wellbeing pillar, meanwhile, is fulfilled by an expansive spa with pioneering hydrotherapy treatments, as well as a meditative ‘Listening Room’ stocked with custom-built speakers and vinyl collection.
