A seriously sophisticated house party may be the best way to describe the essence of Tokyo Confidential. Its view of the landmark Tokyo Tower is also second to none. Co-founded by pedigreed duo Holly Graham and Tom Egerton – the latter of whom conceptualised and opened 50 Best stalwart Argo at the Four Seasons Hong Kong – this venture is a gregarious temple for caviar and champagne, agave spirits and cheekily designed cocktails. At the heart of the bar is a show-stopping bar top carved from 300-year-old reclaimed shrine wood, snaking through the main room and inviting guests to pull up a seat right next to the bartenders. But, like the cocktails that balance sophistication with playfulness (such as the hot dog-flavoured, Gibson-esque Glizztini), the cosiness of the stylish bar is elevated by stunning views of Tokyo from the bar's balcony and rooftop space – an attraction worth a detour.
