Organic in approach and delivery, hip neighbourhood joint Baron takes whatever is freshest in Beirut’s markets and sends it out in the form of innovative sharing plates. Inside, blonde-wood seating and slate accents surround an open kitchen; outside, there’s an intimate garden terrace. Chef-owner Athanasios Kargatzidis lets the food do the talking: plates are elevated with unexpected sauces such as Kewpie mayonnaise or miso butter. A whole roast head of cauliflower in spiced butter, yoghurt tahini tartare, walnuts and pomegranate is a standout dish.
