Inspired by London's late-century private clubs, House of Butlers is a liquor shop and cocktail bar in Beirut's Gemmayze neighborhood. With all corners of the room displaying the bar's library's-worth collection of spirits, the atmosphere is high-end but comfortable, with leather seating, soft green wallpaper and a petite marble bar where guests receive hospitable service. On the menu, a small collection of house interpretations of drinks like the negroni, daiquiri and various martinis showcase the skills of the talented mixologists, while a substantial collection of straightforward classics outlines the remaining drinks list. As warm and welcoming as any sophisticated drinking club, it's a small bar but when the patio doors open and guests spill out into the night, the energy turns from aristocratic to vivacious.
