DC Restaurant By Darren Chin

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

A leading light of Kuala Lumpur’s fine-dining scene since its 2014 opening, DC Restaurant resides in the city’s affluent TTDI township. Pre-dinner cocktails in ground-floor Le Comptoir are de rigueur – perhaps a Claude Monet Coffee, comprising Domaine de Charron 2001, cold brew coffee liqueur and muscovado – before guests move upstairs to intimate La Salle, where soft, honey-coloured drapes and crisp white linen set the tone. Malaysian-born chef Darren Chin, whose career was inspired by his father’s cooking, leads with a ‘no attention to detail spared’ philosophy. His menus – including seafood, sake- and Champagne-paired tasting options, alongside a daily changing prix fixe carte – take classic French techniques and add Japanese inflections. Nuanced dishes such as Miyazaki Japanese A5 wagyu tenderloin precede a standout cheese and dessert offering, of which Milk & Honey, featuring wildflower honey from Mae Rim, parfait glace, apple cider gel, caramel streusel and milk ice-cream, is a highlight.
