Cara de Vaca

Monterrey, Mexico

Asada is the name of the game at this contemporary Monterrey restaurant, where chef Chuy Villarreal (recognized as one of Mexico’s best by Food & Wine) celebrates the grilling traditions of Northern Mexico with fresh enthusiasm. Modern cocktails and a vibrant natural wine collection accompany the cuisine, which playfully dials up the volume on backyard barbecue theme and landed Cara de Vaca the #60 spot on Latin America’s 50 Best in 2022. The interior is inspired by the clean minimalism of Japanese and Scandinavian architecture and also infused with subtle details that remind diners they are still in the heart of modern Mexico - the house typeface, for example, was inspired by posters and signage found across the city. It is a relaxing, light-filled place to indulge in the warm comfort of flame-kissed meats like barbacoa, lechon and cabrito.
