Restaurant Jueun

Seoul, South Korea

Chef Park Ju-eun – formerly of Hansikgonggan (No.43 Asia’s Best Restaurants 2021) – brings a breath of fresh air to traditional Korean cooking at this elegant restaurant, tucked behind Seoul's Gyeonghuigung Palace. The airy space is a blend of modern design and deep-rooted heritage, delivering a canvas on which chef Park can celebrate the complexities – and versatility – of Korea's dynastic dining past. Highlights on the set menu include a range of traditional royal dishes, including tarakjuk, a milk porridge once made for Joseon Dynasty monarchs, dried persimmon rolls hailing from the Goryeo-era served with a pine nut and glutinous rice drink, and pumpkin rice presented in a traditional earthenware pot. The meal concludes with a distinctive Korean take on petit fours: five traditional confections, paired with the delicate floral notes of chrysanthemum tea. A carefully curated wine list, including a selection of Korean beverages, complements the menu, offering diners a thoughtful finish to a meal that seamlessly weaves together tradition and innovation.
