One of Spain's finest tapas restaurants, open since 1989, Cal Pep was once listed as high as No.31 in The World's 50 Best Restaurants. Drawing from a daily changing local larder, its kitchen serves Mediterranean cuisine from razor clams and cuttlefish to foie gras sausage with white Santa Pau beans and a Pedro ximénez sherry reduction. The oozing trampera Spanish tortilla is regularly cited as the best in Barcelona and the tuna tartare is another firm favourite, hand-chopped and seasoned simply to let the fish's natural flavour shine. The convivial and intimate atmosphere – the bar seats just 20 people and the dining room only an additional 26 – makes it a perfect place for celebrations for small groups, or just a mid-week meal.
