Lupo

Zurich, Switzerland

An exercise in simplicity and quality, this popular Zurich spot draws on the concept of the Italian aperitivo hour as inspiration, and then combines three ingredients: pasta, natural wine and cocktails. The result might make you wish that all three of these components were available everywhere. The cocktail list is concise, with some inventive takes on classic Italian aperitivos. Lupo’s signature take on the Negroni adds pomegranate and bergamot to the original, for example. On the natural wine front, there are about 140 bottles to choose from, which are perfect for pairing with Lupo’s pastas, a compact selection including pappardelle ai funghi, accompanied by a few other options such as cheese and charcuterie. Created by three well-known restaurateurs, the space is cool and casual, with wood and pastel shades in abundance.
