Capella Taipei
Taipei, Taiwan
The 86-room Capella Taipei, the brand’s inaugural property in Taiwan that opened in 2025, occupies several floors of a gleaming glass-and-steel tower that rises above the Songshan district. So far, so normal. However, step through the colossal bronze doors and you’re immediately swept up by Hong Kong designer André Fu’s dreamy aesthetic, which he says he fashioned as a quietly-curated private mansion, incorporating contemporary touches and cultural nuances. A series of salon-like rooms reveal soft lines, travertine floors, specially commissioned tapestries and murals all anchored by the main spiral staircase, a work of art in itself with a sweeping handrail composed of 800 hardwood blocks. Guestrooms are similarly refined, adorned with delicate hand-painted wall panels and with spa-like bathrooms; some boast private balconies and terraces with dipping pools. Each of the five F&B venues has been designed as a destination in itself, from the Japanese ryokan-inspired Mizue to Cantonese at Rong Ju to perfectly marbled prime cuts cooked over flames at Ember 28. There’s a wellness sanctuary, as well as a pool terrace framed by white bougainvillea and cabanas.
