Khua Kling Pak Sod

Bangkok, Thailand

Rickety chairs and the odd questionable painting make up most of the decor at this much-loved neighbourhood restaurant, which has four branches throughout the city. The no-fuss homely approach extends to the food offering. Streamlined menus celebrate the fragrant, searingly spiced food of Southern Thailand and it’s a true family affair: the owners handle front of house, their aunts and mother man the stoves and recipes were created by their grandmother during her youth in Chumpon. Naturally the khua kling – a dry pork curry with thinly sliced chilli, lemongrass, kafir lime leaves and green vegetables – is a real highlight for those who can handle the spice.
