The Hind's Head
Just moments from The Fat Duck, a former winner of The World’s Best Restaurant title, The Hind’s Head is a more laid-back gastropub from eccentric chef Heston Blumenthal. In a restored 15th-century building full of low beams and characterful crannies, the kitchen serves hearty British classics such as pea and ham soup, shepherd’s pie, oxtail and kidney pudding and strawberry Eton mess. But this being Heston, expect twists and more inventive choices, such as snail hash or chocolate wine for dessert. Tasting menus are also available in The Vicar’s Room, a private dining room for events, and cocktails can be taken in The Royal Lounge Bar.
