Hacha Bar

London, UK

Welcome to London’s only agaveria. Looking more like a café than a beacon to Mexican sprits, you’ll find Deano Moncrieffe’s love letter to all things agave in East London’s Dalston area, its blue façade seemingly inspired by Frida Khalo’s iconic Casa Azul. The name is a nod to the axe used to split the agave pina, a key moment in the life of the tequilas and mezcals that drive the ever-changing 25-strong spirit list. Expect interesting bottles and lesser-known drinks like Sonoran bacanora and raicilla – available in singles or flights – alongside a concise cocktail list including Smoked Citrus Negroni with Lost Explorer Mezcal, Paloma Old Fashioneds and their signature Mirror Margarita, which is vying for status as London's best cocktail. While serious about the drinks, as is typical of the neighbourhood, a laid-back atmosphere comes as standard. Hacha is a place to kick back and relax over a quality tipple and authentic Mexican bites like cheese chicharrons with pico de gallo or Jalisco beef tacos.
