Ikoyi

London, UK

Named after an affluent district in Lagos, this intimate eatery is the first African-inspired restaurant in London to earn a Michelin star. Chef Jeremy Chan and business partner Ire Hassan-Odukale use ingredients largely unknown in Europe (think penja peppercorns and ndole leaves) to create a bold, energetic tasting menu that hinges on heat and umami. Plantain topped with Scotch bonnet and raspberry powder pops as much on the palate as it does on the eye. The creativity continues with cocktails that include the likes of tiger nut and okra-infused vermouth.
