Row on 5

London, UK

As the first restaurant on Savile Row, Row on 5 draws on the street’s 290-year tailoring heritage. Here, the spirit of craftsmanship is honoured with a meticulously choreographed two-floor dining experience. First, snacks are served in the lounge encircled by wine and champagne cellars, before guests move upstairs to a wood-wrapped room decked out with velvet booths and white tablecloth tables. Chef-patron Jason Atherton and executive chef Spencer Metzger, formerly of the Ritz, have designed a Japanese-inflected tasting menu balancing theatre with precision. Together, they oversee a kitchen defined by precision, producing dishes such as Scottish langoustine with Japanese finger lime and jelly broth, and delicate tuna tartare encased in a wafer-thin shell, each presented tableside by the chefs themselves. A petit four trolley rounds out the meal, serving house-made chocolates and pate de fruits.
