Four Seasons Hotel at the Surf Club
Miami, US
- No.34 The World's 50 Best Hotels 2024
When the Surf Club opened its doors to Miami on New Years’s Eve, 1930, it quickly became the place to be, with everyone from Elizabeth Taylor to Winston Churchill passing through over the next 50 years or so. In 2017 the Four Seasons moved in and gave the beloved Club a second lease of life, adding a 12-storey glass tower by Richard Meier, and recruiting Thomas Keller to oversee the restaurant and Joseph Dirand to work his cool, contemporary magic on the interiors. A champagne bar now buzzes where the ballroom once was, while the light-flooded rooms and suites boast uninterrupted views of either the ocean, bay or city through their glass-edged balconies. There are three swimming pools, but with direct beachfront access and sunlounger service it would be a sin not to have an ocean dip at least once. In the elegant spa – all creamy marble, aqua-blue accents and louvred white shutters – guests can choose from a diverse offering of treatments and classes, including sound baths and meditation, or have one personally tailored for them.
