There was once a bar of the same name in New Orleans that played a major part in the history of the city’s drinking scene. Today, head bartender Chris Hannah pays tribute to that historic venue with this modernised tavern, set in a 19th-century Creole cottage over two floors. Choose one of the team’s latest bespoke cocktail creations or sip your way through history with Hannah’s take on a French 75 or Brandy Crusta – made with brandy, curaçao, fresh lemon juice and bitters. Phil Whitmarsh’s New American food programme perfectly complements the drink offerings. Even with the secret garden courtyard, the bar is often busy and reservations are recommended.
