Aska
New York, US
A spacious, dimly lit dining room in a restored 1860s warehouse near the Williamsburg Bridge is the setting for Swedish chef Fredrik Berselius’ Scandinavian-inspired cuisine. Each night, 10 tables get a front row seat to Aska's open kitchen for dishes that draw on the chef’s upbringing in Sweden, amplified by the best locally sourced ingredients from the surrounding area, including luxury seafood and caviar. With 12-14 courses spread out over the course of two and a half to four hours, the evening tasting menu is a celebration of New York's bounty, anchored in Nordic sensibilities. A shorter lunch menu featuring 10 courses, is also available on Saturdays and Sundays. Bonus: many of Aska’s sauces and vinegars are aged for over a year before they are considered ready for its menu, a testament to the meticulous attention to detail and high standards of its kitchen.
