The follow-up to The World's 50 Best regular Cosme by chefs Daniela Soto-Innes and Enrique Olvera, Atla is a more casual all-day diner, specialising in simple, joyful Mexican fare. The vibe in the sunny dining room is 'neighbourhoody', with NoHo regulars feasting on bowls of guac and totopos, freshly-made tostadas and tacos that burst with flavour, the latter stuffed with octopus or Brussels sprout or beef brisket. More substantial plates arrive in the form of fish Milanese or a mole negro with plantain – add chicken for heartier still. At lunchtimes, the smiley team serves beautifully presented versions of ranchero eggs, chilaquiles and quesadillas, while the sweet-toothed will find it hard to choose between the trio of desserts – churros con chocolate, tres leches cake and coffee flan. Mezcal and tequila rule the cocktail menu.
