GN Chan and Faye Chen founded Double Chicken Please as a tribute to the old school soda shops that once dominated the city’s Lower East Side. What DCP has become is far beyond an homage. Entering in The World’s 50 Best Bars 2022 as the Highest New Entry, DCP’s ascent to stardom was no accident. Chan and Chen’s journey from popup bar to permanent venue is unique, and has helped forge its identity among a crowded New York bar scene. Service here is fast and fun, with drinks in its backroom like the Cold Pizza, made with Parmigiano Reggiano, burnt toast, tomato, basil honey and egg white, blurring the boundaries between mixology and gastronomy. And, as to be expected from its name, its chicken sandwiches are a must.
