Jack Rose Dining Saloon

Washington DC, US

Sprawling five main spaces, Jack Rose beckons whisk(e)y aficionados from across the country to DC’s Adams Morgan neighbourhood with its globally stretching list of the brown stuff. The main saloon is an all-American affair, with steakhouse meets bottle shop vibes and masculine edge. Grab the book (more academic index than menu) and get to work picking your tipple or perhaps warm up with a cocktail and bar snacks like pork rinds and jalapeño hushpuppies as you muse. Until recently, it held the largest collection of whiskies in the U.S, with some 3,000 expressions covering off everything from Japanese Nikka Pure Malt to Michter’s Toasted Barrel Rye. Pandemic pivoting plans saw the launch of a pop-up bottle shop, but fear not, the inventory is being lovingly resurrected with rare scotches, single casks and bottles from overlooked distiller and regions – including Wales, India and Israel.
