This charming spot in Dubai’s financial district retains vestiges of its past as an art gallery, with an elegant spiral staircase, checkerboard tiled floor and open-air rooftop terrace. Co-founder and executive chef Alex Stumpf leads the charge in the kitchen, serving the very best of Asian cuisine from bao to barbecue. Community is at the heart of the restaurant’s philosophy, all the way down to its name (which is derived from the Arabic word, ‘habibi’, meaning ‘love’), and is equally reflected in the menu. Vegan and vegetarian options are just as popular as the meat-based dishes. Look out for the super green seabass with grilled avocado, and the tongue-in-cheek ‘prawn star’, served as prawn toast with roasted sesame and chilli jam, both of which are firm favourites.
