Carine

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Flimsy fries and soggy sandwiches are par for the course at many golf clubs. This is far from the case at Emirates, where a round on their two championship courses can culminate in expertly executed Mediterranean favourites at Carine. According to chef Izu Ani, the two great loves of his life are his wife (whom the venue is named after) and carbs, and the restaurant celebrates both through a gently romantic atmosphere and a selection of housemade breads and pastas. Unlike many restaurants in Dubai, diners here are encouraged to while away hours relaxing over a bottle from the French-facing wine list and enjoying views of the fairway and city skyline beyond. The food is equally polished and designed to share, making this a great place for family gatherings or groups. Short ribs, slow-cooked for 50 hours until melting like butter, can be accompanied by silky lobster linguine and followed by their signature tarte tatin, as glossy as the numerous Mercedes in the club’s car park.
