For five years, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants has been proud to work with its partner, The Sustainable Restaurant Association, to bring you the Sustainable Restaurant Award. For the first time, this award is now extended to Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants.
Narisawa set the bar high when it won the first Sustainable Restaurant Award at The World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2013, proving that sustainability not only complements gastronomy, but is also at the very heart of some of Asia’s best dining experiences.
The Sustainable Restaurant Award provides restaurants with the chance to demonstrate their environmental and social responsibility. The award is decided on the basis of the SRA’s industry-recognised Food Made Good Sustainability Rating, which assesses restaurants across three main pillars:
Sourcing recognises restaurants celebrating local produce, sourcing fish responsibly, serving more vegetables and better meat and supporting global farmers
Environment recognises restaurants that value natural resources, reduce, reuse and recycle and don’t waste food
Society focuses on restaurants treating staff well, using their influence at the top end of the industry to promote sustainable dining and supporting the community
Only restaurants in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants who complete the rating are considered for the award. The winner is the restaurant that best demonstrates that it is doing good as well as serving incredible food. The winner is announced on Tuesday 27th March 2018.
