Date announcement: Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019 to be unveiled in Buenos Aires

Mark Sansom - 04/06/2019

The seventh list of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants, sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna, will be announced on 10th October in Buenos Aires.

After two successful years in Lima, Peru, two in Mexico City and another brace in Bogotá, Colombia, Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants is returning this year for its seventh edition, with the awards ceremony held on 10th October at Usina del Arte in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Chefs, restaurateurs, journalists and gastronomes from all over the world will converge in the capital city to celebrate the prolific achievements and diversity of Latin American cuisine. Including the awards ceremony and gala dinner, the full program will offer attendees the opportunity to take part in the thought-leadership series #50BestTalks, presented by Miele, at Four Seasons Hotel Buenos Aires and the annual Chefs’ Feast on 9th October.

In Buenos Aires, there couldn't be a more appropriate host: the city boasted 10 entries in last year's Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants list, led by Don Julio, which took the No.6 slot thanks to votes from the Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants Academy. With good food, good wine and good vibes at the core, porteños know their ingredients and heritage.

A city built on immigration, much of Buenos Aires' cooking style and produce base can be traced to Spanish colonisers in the 16th century, moving through to late 19th and early 20th century with the diaspora of Italian and Portuguese migrants. All left an indelible mark on the population and the food. These varied influences, paired with indigenous passion and produce, make Buenos Aires one of the best cities on the planet in which to eat and drink.

Last year saw Lima-based restaurant Maido knock local rival Central off the No.1 spot after three years topping the list. Who will be crowned The Best Restaurant in Latin America this year? Tune in to the livestream on our Facebook page on 10th October and follow the countdown on Twitter and Instagram to find out.
