Buenos Aires, Argentina
A former mechanic’s workshop houses one of Buenos Aires’ hippest restaurants, a regular entry in Latin America’s 50 Best. Helmed by dynamic young chef duo Leo Lanussol and Augusto Mayer, the self-built wood-burning brick oven in the open-plan kitchen plays a key role in their seasonal daily menu. Elements of most dishes pass through embers, from asparagus tips to braised cauliflower or halloumi provolone. And Mayer’s dulce de leche creme caramel dessert is an absolute joy. There’s no reservations, so expect to queue outside with the cool crowd while waiting for a table.
