Misera

Antwerp, Belgium

Misera is one of those restaurants with a very clear identity, which seems to have served it well as it garnered a Michelin star in less than a year since opening. This is a tasting menu-free zone, guests are invited to dine á la carte at both lunch and dinner and there's a real focus on fish and shellfish with no accommodation for vegetarian or vegan diets. What's more, diners are warned that this isn't going to be a place of hushed tones and silent reverence, chef Nicolas Wentein and his team like to play their music loud. The modernist dining room has a bit of a Japanese vibe, with charred wood and polished stone textures contrasted with floaty white drapery and the dishes meld French technique with North Sea ingredients for a genuinely exceptional result.
