Casa las Cujas
Santiago, Chile
The second location of the classic beachside restaurant in Cachagua, Casa las Cujas brings the bounty of the ocean to its inner-city Santiago setting. Discover seafood in all its dazzling diversity at this inventive bar and eatery. Expect to try some fun fusion foods: empanadas with crab cheese; loco (Chilean abalone) croquettes; clam cream with goat’s horn oil; white rice with candied garlic. Mains are classically pleasing: fresh catch of the day with tartare sauce; shrimp rice soup starring fat, pink Patagonian prawns; or grilled sirloin with meat sauce, chives and pickled onions. There are lots of beach cocktails on the drinks menu, but make sure to have a potent pisco sour (one is the recommended limit). Channelling a coastal vibe, the decor is relaxed and beachy, with nautical splashes of white and blue and an airy patio designed for prime people-watching.
