NKIRU Bar

Santiago, Chile

NKIRU has got a lot going on. Billing itself as Latin America's first zero-waste bar, its concept draws influence from all over the world. It takes its name from the African book shop in Brooklyn owned by Talib Kweli and Mos Def, which also inspires the artwork throughout the venue (think massive murals of Biggie Smalls), and the food menu draws on Nikkei cuisine – the fusion of Peruvian and Japanese flavours and techniques. Drinks are a lot of fun, with kitschy cartoon-inspired ceramic mugs the favoured vessel and there's also an adjoining NKIRU barbershop, which opened in early 2021, because why wouldn't there be?
