Diminutive Godenya moved from Tokyo to Hong Kong, bringing owner Shinya Goshima’s love for sake with it. Since he was 20, Goshima-san has been playing with sake and food pairings, eventually training at a sake brewery and becoming an unofficial ambassador for the distinctive Japanese rice wine. The cuisine at Godenya features seasonal Japanese dishes with the occasional Cantonese twist. The chef conceives his dishes around the sake he wants to pair it with, rather than the other way round and the menu indicates each wine's name, grade, and at what precise temperature it should be served.
