An exceedingly good neighbourhood bistro with a global following. Chef Greg Marchand creates plates that are as pretty as a picture, letting ingredients lead the way on the ever-changing seasonal menu. Situated down an inconspicuous, narrow alley, this micro-restaurant is always packed – and not without good reason. Go for the chef’s carte blanche five-course taster – or the three-course lunch menu – and give yourself over to unfussy, unpretentious cookery. Book way in advance, or get there early (around 6pm) and hope for a cancellation. If you’re not lucky enough to bag a table, hang out in the wine bar opposite, which serves a short menu of tasty plates well paired with quality cocktails.
