J.K Place Paris

Paris, France

Intimate and eclectic, a stay at this Rive Gauche address feels more like borrowing a friend’s elegant Parisian apartment than a visit to a hotel. The property is one of a number of European offerings from mastermind Italian-Israeli hotelier Ori Kafri, but the first to open outside Italy. Located in the former buildings of the Norwegian embassy, first impressions emphasis its understated subtlety. The unobtrusive townhouse has an unmarked entrance, and Michele Bönan’s interiors – while beautiful – don’t try to make a loud statement. Instead, they ooze with easy elegance. A well-curated selection of heritage heirlooms and vintage curios combine with smart new furnishings to create a grown-up, sophisticated feel. Despite the subtlety, there’s a hidden depth of luxury: a hammam and pool, serviced by a Sisley spa, sit in the basement. The glass-roofed Casa Tua kitchen serves exquisite Italian cuisine. The hotel bar is a city gem. This understated stay operates on a “just let us know” basis, with Kafri’s elegant riverboat available for private tours on the Seine.
