Remi

Berlin, Germany

Young Dutch restaurateurs Lode van Zuylen and Stijn Remi – the duo behind Lode & Stijn in Kreuzeburg – looked to the grand cafes of their motherland for inspiration for their Torstraße venue. Remi wants the restaurant to be somewhere people can drop in for any occasion and his a la carte menus focus on modern European dishes made from regional ingredients that are ‘uncomplicated and fun to eat’. Expect straight-up, tasty dishes such as grilled mackerel and saddle of lamb served pink with grilled cabbage, served in a dining room as clean and minimal as an art gallery but softened with pops of red and yellow. It’s located in the same building as the Suhrkam-Verlag publishing house, so you’ll often find literary types lingering over a parsley root schnapps beside the floor-to-ceiling windows.
