Bastian

Mumbai, India

Mumbai's Bastian opened its doors in 2016 and is somewhat unexpectedly named after The Little Mermaid's crabby sidekick, Sebastian, as a nod to its coastally-inspired cuisine. The chic dining room is a versatile space, combining bleached wood and woven rope textures with pops of green from a clutch of olive trees and is bright and airy by day then cosy and romantic by night. The menu is a globally-inspired behemoth, incorporating salads, classics (covering everything from wild mushroom and truffle pasta to kung pao chicken), specials finished on the robata grill and a hefty selection of seafood such as lobster thermidor and even fish and chips. Please note, the second branch of Bastian (in the Worli neighbourhood) is currently in the process of relocating so for now this flagship is the only site in operation.
