This classy Milan bar, with its emerald-coloured walls, marble countertop and piano, offers an immersive journey for those willing to go along for the ride. The series of drinks menus here tell the tale of the eponymous Nik, a fictional bartender travelling the world by ship over the decades, meeting figures from history and gaining inspiration for his cocktail creations. The 1960s find the character in America, where J.F. Kennedy becomes the inspiration for the highball-style Jackie, a combination of tequila, bergamot liqueur, cedar water and tonic. Liz Taylor provides the idea, meanwhile, for the Lady Violet, a mix of gin, violet and mauve cordial and lavender bitters. Chef Paolo Bertin takes similar inspiration from around the globe, preparing tasting menus from an open kitchen, with courses paired with cocktails from the bar.
