  • No.19 Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2021

Not just some of the best French cuisine you'll get outside of France; the fare here is some of the best food you'll eat, anywhere. Head chef Shinobu Namae worked with influential cooks Michel Bras and Heston Blumenthal before opening what he calls his “hermitage in the city” in 2010. Expect poetically named dishes such as ‘Where The Ocean Meets The Land’ (wood-fired duck with taro and cold milt soup, wilted spinach and spruce oil) and ‘Autumn Foothills Hike’ (candied chestnuts and chrysanthemum leaf ice cream, mandarin and Sierra Nevada chocolate). As well as a featuring regularly on Asia’s 50 Best, L'Effervescence also picked up the inaugural Sustainable Restaurant Award in 2018.
