Some bars are speakeasies only in name – a nod to the 1920s, a knowing wink and a sign above the door. Yellow Door is not one of these. Widely regarded as the oldest cocktail bar in Central Asia, it has genuinely maintained its secrecy since opening more than a decade ago. The address is disclosed only upon reservation, accompanied by a set of house rules – among them, a reminder to keep voices low. Inside, the bar looks the part: moodily lit, candles, jazz drifting the background and vintage curios – cocktail shakers among them – dating back over a century. The cocktail menu lists 140 classics, alongside a shorter selection of signature drinks made with local ingredients.
