Chef Erwann Lance cut his teeth in the high-end restaurants of Eric Ripert, Yannick Alléno and his mentor Michel Rostang before opening his own, more down-to-earth spot in the modern Marrakech neighbourhood of Guéliz. Lance takes a bistronomic approach to service and cuisine at Le Petit Cornichon, combining the conviviality and simplicity of a bistro with refined gastronomy, hence the name. Seasonal produce sits at the heart of the menu, and the use of local ingredients champions Moroccan produce while putting a modern riff on French classics. One of the signature dishes, and a firm customer favourite, is the hearty beef Wellington. There is also a vegetarian counterpart, created due to popular demand, with earthy roasted beetroot in place of the beef. As Lance is enthusiastic about wine, the restaurant's upstairs wine cellar is one of the largest in Morocco, with over 350 references and enough space to host up to six guests if you'd prefer to dine there. Drop by on Mondays for a set-price steak frites, and at lunchtime for another well-priced prix fixe menu. In summer, a seat on the terrace is the one to snag.
