Tucked away in the Peruvian capital’s stylish Miraflores district, Bijou is exactly what its name suggests: small and beautiful. Dark green patterned wallpaper, exposed brick and a smattering of vintage prints and posters lend a speakeasy-type vibe, an intimate setting to sip signatures such as the fig negroni or the decadent Tiramisu (with whisky, cacao, coffee, tonka bean and amaretto). Bartenders here are, as you’d hope, also very adept at shaking up an excellent pisco sour, though with the diverse menu being one of the draws here – along with friendly service and that slightly clandestine atmosphere – you should make the most of the opportunity to branch out. Bar snacks are simple but satisfying, ranging from standard cheese platters to hot fried delights with accompanying dipping sauces.
