The Ned Doha

Doha, Qatar

Doha’s waterside hotel zone, the Corniche, is home tothe third location of SoHo House’s sister hotel-cum-private-club project, The Ned. The mood is set immediately upon entry as live musicians perform while Qatar’s movers and shakers close deals while sipping drinks on the plush seating. Visiting officials find the space familiar, the Brutalist building once housed the Ministry of the Interior. A much ballyhooed makeover from Pritzker-winning architect David Chipperfield added an elegant modern touch to the exterior. The interior motif proudly imparts a 1970s retro-glam vibe. Indeed, vibe is an important part of the brand; consider that the relatively small, 90-room property boasts seven different bars and restaurants. Beyond the swank cocktail bars, dining options range from US classics at Millie’s Diner to Levantine at Hadika. The exclusive Members Club is exactly as described, but the remainder of the property and outlets are open tot the public, a departure from policy at the Ned’s sister properties. The chic destination also houses a world class spa featuring three treatment rooms and a Moroccan hammam. The 30-metre pool set beneath a modernist pergola offers further space to unwind.
