Compartir Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain

Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch and Mateu Casañas (CXC) have been friends for three decades. The trio were head chefs at El Bulli. When it closed its doors in 2011, they decided to open their own restaurant, Compartir Cadaqués, followed by Disfrutar, named The World’s Best Restaurant 2024. In 2022, they teamed up with Nil Dulcet to add to their growing empire with Compartir Barcelona. It’s housed in a handsome early 20th-century building in the heart of chi-chi Eixample, a stone's throw from the prestigious Passeig de Gràcia. Materials, colours and textures have been chosen to reflect the landscape of Cadaqués. You can see through a hole in the burnt orange tiled wall into the kitchen, where the modern Catalan sharing plates are prepared. Oysters are big news, served cold or hot. First courses such as cod fritters in honey sauce; tuna cannelloni; or Iberian acorn-fed ham are followed by larger dishes featuring red mullet, wild salmon, lamb shoulder or duck magret. Desserts and cocktails (the latter curated by CXC) are more than worthy of a mention.
