Suculent

Barcelona, Spain

Upcycling comes to the fore at Suculent, an intimate eatery located close to Fernando Botero’s whimsical cat sculpture in the Raval district where, behind an unassuming facade, the cosy dining room is home to a happy mishmash of vintage items. The philosophy of “revival rather than renewal” continues through two contemporary menus, which feature reimagined Mediterranean and Spanish dishes designed for sharing and both of which can be paired with a wine flight. Head chef Toni Romero, who was born and raised in Nules in Spain’s Castellón region, has an innate respect for the land, the sea and the sustainably sourced ingredients he works with, from bone marrow to stingray, resulting in Suculent being a place that people stumble across and then to return time and time again.
