Desde 1911

Madrid, Spain

Opened in 2022, Desde 1911 is the sixth restaurant from Madrid’s leading seafood distributor Pescaderías Coruñesas, which is largely responsible for having turned the city into Spain’s capital of fish and seafood – despite it not being on the coast. Conceived to celebrate both the rich bounty of the sea and La Coruña’s proud maritime history, the fine-diner is housed within a former industrial workshop and divided into three distinct sections: the Scandi-styled main dining room, a garden courtyard and private dining area. The menu, led by chef Diego Murciego, is organised into six, artfully presented starters (of which three, four or five can be selected, depending on the menu chosen), a fish main and a cheeseboard (from a cheese trolley that contains more than 60 iterations) or dessert to finish. All the seafood is served within 24 hours of being caught with highlights including Norwegian salmon and scallops, Galician lobster and sea bass from Ribeira, served whole.
